HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, as President of the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation, sent a congratulatory message to Dr. Margaret Chan, the Prince Mahidol Award laureate for 1998, on the occasion of being elected as Director-General of the World Health Organization. On 6 December 2006, H.E. Mr. Chaiyong Satjipanon, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva presented the letter from HRH to Dr. Chan. Upon receiving the letter, Dr. Chan responded that she was very honoured that HRH sent her best wishes.
